Raising Our Childrens Kids
ROCK is a supportive group for people who have taken on the extra responsibility of raising their grandchildren or great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc. Whether the situation is short or long term, people often have questions, concerns, and coming together on a monthly basis has proven to provide some support and encouragement in what can be a difficult but rewarding time in their lives.
Each month, September through May, speakers are brought in or topics are discussed that relate to resources available to parents. Questions are asked and answered, and ample time for sharing and support is provided.
Topics may include:

Getting signed up for mainstream services (medical assistance, etc.)

Taxes-is this child my dependent?

Legal rights
-
Coping
-
Self-care
The group meets on the third Thursday of each month (Sept - May) at the Marshall Area YMCA at 7pm. Free childcare is provided. People from any community are welcome.
