Financial Education

“It’s not just common sense!”

Financial skills are learned, and are not just something that everyone “should” know.  Many people who have made mistakes or taken missteps are embarrassed to talk about them because they think that it should be just common sense.  Western Community Action staff know that this is simply not true.  If you were fortunate enough to grow up in a family where someone taught you how to make informed decisions about money, then you may have what you need to get through life without being in a financial crisis.  If you did not have such an experience, you may be among the many who find themselves in situations that are extremely difficult or even out of control.

Sometimes even with some financial knowledge, life happens.  People may lose their job, lose income due to medical needs of themselves or a family member, or have some other unfortunate event happen.

No matter if you’ve made mistakes in the past or if you are looking for additional information to avoid pitfalls in the future, the Financial Fitness classes offered by Western Community Action are for you!

We offer classes in several locations and offer day-long and multi-part classes as well.

Topics include:

  • Budgeting to Create Savings

  • Debt Reduction
