2. Matched Circles
A. Family Participants – families struggling in impoverished situations
B. Allies – caring adults from the community who befriend family participants
A “Circle” is made up of one Family Participant and three Allies. A participant may be a single individual, a single parent or a couple with children. The participant must be willing and motivated to do whatever it takes to work their way out of poverty. They must also be willing to share their strengths and talents with others (reciprocity). An ally is a volunteer who agrees to befriend a participant and help them get out of poverty. An ally can be anyone in the com-munity with any level of resources. Each ally has a specific focus area to assist the participant with. Together they meet monthly to get to know each other, do fun things together and then help the family set goals and take steps needed to achieve self-sufficiency.
Three Ally Areas:
-
Financial - Income and budgeting
-
Education/Job Coaching & career planning
-
Community Resources & Connecting.
