Big Buddies History

The Big Buddies program began in 1989 when a group of concerned citizens in Marshall wanted to provide mentoring opportunities for children in need.  They started the Big Buddies program in Marshall, MN, modeled on the Big Brothers/Sisters Program, and asked Western Community Action to incorporate the program into their focus of creating a thriving community where no child grows up poor or hungry or living in unsafe conditions.  Over the years the Big Buddies program has grown to surpass the mentoring outcomes of the Big Brothers/Sisters program.
