Welcome to Big Buddies of Western Community Action!
Investing in quality programming for youth is vitally important – because of its direct role in children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development, but also because of its more indirect role in providing benefits that extend beyond participants, to society as a whole.
Big Buddies first started providing youth development programming in 1989 when a group of concerned parents and grandparents wanted to find a way to ensure that “overlooked”, “at-risk”, and “falling-behind” children grew up to succeed in life. The founders set out to do this believing three things:

All children deserve an opportunity to grow up healthy, safe, happy, and equipped for the future.

It is the responsibility of adults to provide every child with the resources and opportunities needed to grow and mature.

Positive, caring adults in a child’s life can make the difference between success and failure.
Today, Big Buddies’ goals continue to forge productive relationships with family, peers, and community in order to develop social competencies and positive values and to form an optimistic sense of themselves and their future.
